The Energies of Gemini and Aromatherapy
Gemini the Twins (May 21 – June 20) shares its Air element with Libra and Aquarius. Gemini is known for being smart, observant, emotionally intelligent, curious, passionate, and dynamic. Represented by the twins, Castor and Pollux, Gemini is known for having two different sides they can show to the world. Their perception aids them in acting as a true chameleon, enabling them to blend and adapt into their environment with ease and grace, which reflects in its quality of being mutable.
Ruled by Mercury, Gemini’s possess charisma, playfulness, a knack for communication and consciousness. This makes them great thinkers and persuaders, which makes Gemini perfect for careers in journalism and teaching.
Gemini’s main birth flowers are Lavender – perfect calm for the storm of this energetic Zodiac sign, and Lily of the Valley – a seemingly delicate flower that can adapt to most environments, just like our Gemini. They’re also associated with Chrysanthemums, Lilac, and Orchids.
Gemini’s birthstone is Pearl, their Bach Flower is Cerato, their NZ First Light Flower essences are no 7, 8 and 9, and recommended essential oils are Benzoin, Lavender and Lemongrass. In Medical Astrology, Gemini governs the lungs, hands, and arms, which links it to the Throat Chakra, moving down towards the Heart Chakra. Its Healing Crystals are blue - blue-green.
Australian Bush Flower Essence – Air White Light Essence
You may not be aware of this very potent range, however, if you’re a Gemini light worker or Gemini is in your 6th House, you will want to know more about this essence.
This Essence was made on top of Schafberg Mountain, St Wolfgang, Austria. The Air Essence allows a person to journey out to much further realms and levels on the spiritual plane. The Air Essence has the potential to bring out a person’s spirituality to the highest degree with integrity and passion.
This Essence can invoke peace and harmony and let it reign within your heart and mind. It helps you to see life as being simple and to keep it simple, surrendering to God any problem. The Essence itself produces a sensation of feeling light, easy and carefree. It is an excellent remedy for people going through emotional stress and trauma, helping one to see the overview of any problem whilst enhancing one’s guidance and inner knowing in order to deal with the situation more effectively and not get caught up in the detail or the drama. It promotes the realization that life will go on and to simply feel the love and peace around you. Consequently, it greatly helps anyone going through a “black night of the soul” experience by making them aware of the divine guidance and protection that always accompanies one at these times.
The Air Essence allows one’s thought processes to become more flowing and gentle. When making a choice this Essence helps one to maintain a balance between an intellectual and an emotional approach, whilst also aiding discrimination and discernment.

Birth Stone
Pearl, the jewel of the sea, is associated with the Moon. It’s known for its healing properties, bringing peace, confidence, courage, and calmness to whoever wears it.
Chakras and Crystal Healing
The Throat chakra, also known as the Vishuddha chakra, is the energy centre associated with communication, self-expression, and creativity. Its location is from your armpits, up over your ears and to the bridge of your nose, leaving your eyes out.
When this chakra is balanced, it allows us to express our thoughts, feelings, and ideas freely. However, if it’s blocked or unbalanced, communication difficulties and self-judgment may arise. To harmonise and activate the throat chakra, you can work with specific crystals and stones by wearing them as a necklace, on your wrist (throat chakra of your arm) or even in your pocket. As Gemini is more about the lower half of the throat chakra and heading towards the heart chakra, here are some crystals that are more focused for this area:
- Chrysocolla (Stone of Inner Truth)
- Rainbow Obsidian (Stone of Change)
- Turquoise (Stone of Inner Protection)
But what about the crystals for Gemini?
Wild Reign NZ recommends the following:
- Blue Lace Agate: Facilitating clear and effective communication, Blue Lace Agate serves as a soothing companion, easing anxiety and empowering the Gemini to express themselves with eloquence.
- Tiger’s Eye: Merging sporadic energy into one focused direction, Tiger’s Eye aids in accomplishing goals and navigating the dualities of the Gemini personality with unwavering determination.
- Botswana Agate: Grounding and comforting, Botswana Agate provides solace during moments of sadness, offering stability to the ever-active Gemini mind.
- Hematite: Bridging airy energy into the mind and grounding it back to earth, Hematite brings balance and stability, ensuring the Gemini remains connected to both the ethereal and earthly realms.
- Labradorite: Unveiling deeper insights into dreams and uncovering destiny, Labradorite ignites the Gemini's curiosity and intuition, guiding them through the realms of possibility.
And you’ll find their cute little gift set here
Other crystal affinities with Gemini are Agate, Apophyllite, Aquamarine, Calcite, Chrysoprase, Citrine, Dendritic Agate, Green Tourmaline, Sapphire, Serpentine, Topaz, Tourmalinated and Rutilated Quartz, Variscite.
Aromatherapy
When it comes to essential oils and astrology, there are so many variations it can get confusing – every book has a different list. So here’s what’s worked for me in my clinic and personal space, as well as what my intuition has fed me. I tend to work with the ruling planet and elements, the moon phase, the astrological sign (it shows up our weak areas), and intuition along with the science of essential oils. This month we have:
Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) is a wonderful rejuvenator for your system if you like the smell of it! Ruled by Mercury and the element Air, it can nourish your soul as well as your body and calm your mind, simply by adding 3-4 drops to your bath. However, as it's a stimulant as well as a sedative, less is more if you like your bath at bedtime.
Lavender is cooling and calming, whether it's the body or the psyche. Yin energy. Think of Lavender as Mother Earth, here to help look after us when we need her, however firm in her intent in encouraging us to explore and enjoy life, and not to rely on her at all times.
When I trained in aromatherapy, I was taught lavender is for emergencies for when we really really need it, not for everyday life, and I still work with lavender like this today. If the world of science and medicine come crashing down around us, that's when we will really need lavender, and she won't be as effective if we've been using her everyday!
Analgesic, anticonvulsive, antidepressant, anti-inflammatory, antirheumatic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, bactericide, carminative, cholagogue, cicatrisant, cytophylactic, emmenagogue, fungicide, hypotensive, nervine, restorative, sedative, sudorific, vulnerary.
Lemongrass (Cymbopogon nardus) is refreshing and lifts the spirits, especially whilst doing mundane chores llike cleaning the house. A great one to have around in winter with viruses flowing freely. Ruled by Mercury and the element Air .
Antimicrobial, antiseptic, bactericidal, deodorant, fungicidal, insecticidal. Not to be used on your skin.
Benzoin (Styrax benzoin) is ruled by Mercury and its element is Air and is one of my favourite essential oils due to its warming soothing aroma. It's a big warm hug in a bottle waiting to envelop you... blend with other oils to increase the feeling of being nurtured and loved. It helps to revitalise your body when you're feeling exhausted, and blends well with lavender if you are having trouble with sleeping through the night due to an over-active mind or imagination.
Benzoin essential oil can be used for bronchitis, coughs, colds, wounds, acne, eczema, psoriasis, rheumatism, arthritis, scar tissue, circulation, nervous tension, stress, muscle pains, chilblains, rashes and mouth ulcers.
Benzoin is recommended for lethargy, poor appetite, abdominal distention and cold limbs due to it's warming properties, both physically and emotionally.
Antiseptic, anti-depressant, anti-inflammatory, carminative, deodorant, diuretic, expectorant, sedative and vulnerary.
If you don't have any of these oils, you'll find a selection of them here
Perfect Potion Gemini Blend

With Citrus paradisi (pink grapefruit), Citrus limonum (lemon),Mentha piperata (peppermint), Lavandula angustifolia) lavender, Ocimum basilicum (basil), and Boswellia carterii (frankincense) certified organic pure essential oils, the vibrant aroma of this blend will promote focus and connection.

Moon Energy
Last month I wrote about my introduction to the Moon and Astrology... let's see what's happening this coming month
As you receive this, the Full Moon is in Sagittarius… the generosity moon - need a loan, ask/apply whilst the moon is here, they're more likely to say yes! It's also the perfect time to dream and talk about travel and philosophy until the wee hours... from my far distant memory that's how I originally planned my OE... which was all go with deposits paid until baby # 7 came along and decided he wanted to hang around unlike his sibings, so I finally got to travel at 50 instead of 27.
The New Moon on the 8th June is in Gemini - time to catch up on all those emails and letters you hadn't gotten around to sending! The New Moon is about setting intentions, the Full Moon is about activating them.
We'd love to hear about your experiences... let us know on our FB page
