I was introduced to the process of cold pour soap making by the lovely Joanne Quigg of Bathe Alchemy / Q Aromatherapy back in 2004 when she rented our garage space to manufacture in. I started making my own soaps in small batches after we moved up to Matakohe in 2006 as one of my rehabilitation exercises after my brain injury - specifically to develop my focus and to improve movement in my right arm and shoulder (as I dislocated it during my fall). In 2007 I bought my first bottle of Castile Liquid Soap from Perfect Potion, and loved the gentleness of it on my sensitive skin. That base was made from pure olive oil, and I when I went to top up purchase more recently, it's been discontinues. So I went hunting, and was shocked to discover that all the castile liquid soaps I could find here in NZ contain nut oils, and my range is nut free. So, I made my own, as you do, and here it is ready to go - so that you can add your ESF formulation or a single essential oil of your choice.
Created with pure distilled water and olive oil, my ESF Castille liquid soap is calming whilst gently cleansing on your skin, and will help you feel refreshed whilst you go about your daily skincare routine.
This formulation is all about soothing and gently cleansing your skin, so you can feel confident within yourself.
- You can add up to 10ml of vegetable oil if your skin is dry or dehydrated to make it more moisturising. .
- You can treat yourself to a bubble bath with it
And here's why...
NZ Ultra-Distilled Water is beautiful spring water that has been distilled to keep it chenically stable which reduces the chance of it growing any mould.. I use this as the water source for all my lotions, shampoos and gels.
Olive oil in this formulation is a blend of NZ olive oil and European Pomace oil. Pomace oil is not as strong as olive oil with its scent, so it is popular in soap making. By adding coldpresed olive oil as well, it increases the moisturising content.
Vegetable Glycerine is a humectant and helps to lock in the moisture in your skin, leaving your skin feeling soft and smooth.
Potassium Hydroxide is blended with the water to create the lye for liquid soap.
How to use? Add up to 10 drops of your favourite ESF blend or essential oil to 50ml of castile cleansing base, shake well to disperse and wash your skin.
Packaged in a green glass bottle with a black lotion cap, in a box with an instruction leaflet.
