Mothercare Child Birth Massage Oil

 to enhance your labour, whilst helping you to enjoy "the moment"

This delicious relaxing smelling blend is gentle and effective to use during labour, and not before unless the mother is to be induced.

• Rose - is a Uterine relaxant, a Natural antiseptic, with a Slight analgesic effect as well as being a slight sedative for the nervous system and assisting with insomnia… a "must have" during this special time.
• Geranium - relieves anxiety on the emotional front, whilst helping to restrain bleeding on the physical.
• Clary Sage - the most important oil – It is a Uterine tonic, a natural Analgesic and antispasmodic, whilst nurturing the expectant mother with assisting her to release tension and feel Euphoric.
• Jasmine - Euphoric, Antidepressant, Uterine tonic – similar to Clary Sage, however works slightly differently biochemically so is an effective support system.
• Lavender True - has all of the following properties… Circulatory stimulant, Slight analgesic effect, Calming, Antiseptic, Anti-inflammatory, Promotes healing of wounds, For headaches and fainting, however has mainly been chosen for it's calming influence on the support team here!
• Bergamot - a wonderful oil for Anxiety and Tense situations…, as well as being Antiseptic and soothing to the skin.
• Petitgrain - calms anger and panic, Relaxes the nervous system and palpitations.
• Amor Pregnancy Base Oil - nurturing for your skin.

To use:
Massage Oil - Comes with an Instruction Sheet on how and when to use.  My professional recommendation is after 38 weeks with the approval of your Midwife.  If less than 38 weeks and you are delivering early, please ask your Midwife to contact National Womens Women' Assessment Unit for guidance based on their experiences with this product.

Roll On / Pulse Point - add to a roller bottle, and apply to the perineum in the last couple of weeks leading up to the birth.  You can do this with our 10ml and 50ml bottles, although the 10ml is probably more comfortable.

What size bottle do I need?

If this is your first child, the 50ml bottle should be sufficient unless you have a larger frame or are carrying twins or more, in which case you will want the 100ml bottle.
If this is not your first child, and your other births have been quick, the 25ml bottle should be sufficient.

This formulation had its origins from The Fragrant Pharmacy and I had it made up for myself with the birth of my son Kyle in 1994, and my friends used it too.  I was the first Mum to use aromatherapy at North Shore Hospital (1994), and now it is the one of the blends I have in NZ's National Women's Birthing Units and Birthcare.
