Essential Oil Safety - How to Diffuse Oils without Alienating Others!

Jun012020

The hot topic of the moment in the Aromatherapy industry is the safe use of essential oils.

Amor Diffuser

Electric diffusers have become very common over the last 5 years and if you haven’t bought one yet, maybe it’s because you’re not sure what you need or how to use it.

I got my first electric diffuser way back in 1997 and it has a filter and a fan. Luckily my one is quiet, however there were quite a few noisy ones available at the time.

These days the most common diffuser is the ultrasonic vaporiser, and I have 2 of them as well!

They are great because there is no heat so they don’t change the chemical structure of the essential oil you have in it, however less is more, especially in the work place, around children, expectant mums, the elderly, infirm and pets.

For a small diffuser, 1 drop per 2-3 hours is plenty, and anymore can cause headaches, migraines and nausea, especially if this is going in a small space.

For a larger room eg open plan office, 2-3 drops morning and afternoon for 30 minutes is usually ample as some individuals are more sensitive than others, and like perfume, if it’s on your desk under your nose, you will barely smell it within 15 minutes however every one else still can.

If you are using a diffuser around your pets, 1 drop is all that should be added to your diffuser.
