The Essence of Amor

The name Amor has many meanings... however, for Amor Aromatherapy it originated with the following symbols:

  • a gorgeous damascena rose in my garden
  • a heart shaped crystal necklace with a figure 8 carved into the centre of it
  • the moon - I am a moon child born under the sign of Cancer and my moods are very much influenced by the phases of the moon
  • the semi-precious gemstones amethyst and opal - I have always felt more connected to these two stones than any other (and my wedding band is opal inlaid in silver).

So I sat down and worked out for me what each of these symbols meant

  • moon ~ emotional wellbeing
  • amethyst ~ spiritual wellbeing
  • opal ~ physical wellbeing (it's like it has little sparks of life going off in it)
  • rose ~ total wellbeing 8 ~ constant cycle of life

the next step, I took the first letter of each symbol M ~ A ~ O~ R ~ 8/E and played around with them in many ways... and, maybe surprisingly to some, AMORE came out of it about 3 weeks later.

But I didn't like AMORE, so I started drawing and sketching and that is how the coloured heart shaped crystal with the figure 8 in the middle became the amethyst in the centre of my rose, with the moon above and the opal as a dewdrop off the leaf.

And that is the essence of Amor

  • amethyst ~ spiritual wellbeing
  • moon ~ emotional wellbeing
  • opal ~ physical wellbeing (it's like it has little sparks of life going off in it)
  • rose ~ total wellbeing

It was months later when someone pointed out to me that amor is aroma backwords, and love in Spanish... and as I've since fallen in love with Spain, it's even more appropriate! lol
