Description: This is the low growing perennial that rarely exceeds 9" / 23cm.  The plant is extensively grown in central and Eastern Europe. Leaves are lacy and finely divided, on stems capped with small, white daisy like flowers.
Aromatic Description:

When opening the bottle you get an aroma sometimes described as being like 'apples and straw'. It's an exotic and rich warm scent, yet relaxing on your senses. Some consider it to smell like freshly baked banana bread.

It is commonly accepted as the best smelling of the three Chamomiles.

Common Uses:

The essential oil is useful in the treatment of aches and pains in muscles and joints.

Chamomile reduces inflammation due to headaches, asthma, allergies. It also treats colic in children, light constipation, PMS, menstrual pain, and gall bladder damage.

A strong antidepressant, chamomile helps overcome over-sensitivity, stress, anxiety, hysteria, insomnia, suppressed anger, and hyperactivity.

Treatment of symptoms of PMS with Chamomile is also beneficial especially when the symptoms are related to stress.

Skincare / Perfumery: Chamomile is wonderful for soothing inflamed, itchy and sensitive skin, and is ideal as a soothing mist spray or compress if you have been exposed to a skincare product that has triggered an allergic reaction.

History:

Chamomile has a long tradition in herbal medicine. The flowers were used in many cures including an herbal tea to cure insomnia. During the Second World War chamomile was also used as a disinfectant.

This herb has been used for medicinal purposes and skin therapy for a long time, in particular in Europe. German/Blue Chamomile and Roman Chamomile have very similar properties, however the German/Blue oil is better for anti-inflammatory applications, because it has a higher content of Azulene.

Users can expect a shelf life of 6 months to 2 Years with proper storage conditions (cool, out of direct sunlight).
