Brown oxide (an Iron (III) oxide (Fe2O3)) occurs naturally in the mineral hematite. It comes in several shades of brown and red oxides.
Brown is available in 4 different shades from dark to light and their CI numbers are 77491, 77492 and 77499 - essentially red, yellow and brown blended together - makes me think of littlies when the use a paint tray for the first time... lol
This brown is the one that is in my CIY Cosmetic Kits and is a lovely warm neutral light brown shade which is mainly used in foundations, bronzers and pigmented moisturisers. I like it in an eyeliner with some metallic copper mica added to it.
