What is a medical aromatherapist and how can you help me?

I'm similar to a medical herbalist and naturopath, however my final papers were spent studying and focusing on the art and biochemistry of essential oils and their impact on the body and its systems rather than using herbs. 

The plants are the same, however the chemical constituents between a leaf and the essential oil within that same leaf are far more concentrated, and for individuals who struggle with herbal medicine, aromatherapy is a wonderful modality that can have very rapid results.   

Did you know that when essential oils are applied to your skin they are in your blood stream within 10 minutes, affecting your kidneys and liver, metabolism and hormones?  This is why we have to be careful with the dosage of essential oils and why many of them cannot be used by children and pets.

Similar to my Naturopathic Lifestyle Consultations, your initial consultation will involve us going over your medical history, and it does take quite a while.  Unlike a naturopathic consultation, an aromatherapy consultation is about finding the most effective essential oils to help you with your condition, whether it is spiritual, emotional, physical, or mental, as they have this wonderful ability of pulling us together even though they are itsy bitsy little drops.

To make your consultation more effective, it is helpful if you can complete sections of the form you will be sent prior to your appointment, along with a food diary and any supplements and medications you are taking on the Cronometer app which gives me a macronutrient breakdown to analyse and see what possible nutrient deficiencies you have that are affecting your health and wellbeing. 

You're probably wondering why I'm interested in food when I'm doing an aromatherapy consultation... it lets me know how much stress your kidneys and liver are already under so that I can chose the right essential oils for you, and not aggravate your condition! 

After our consultation I will summarise what I see is happening, and forward it to you to review.  

If you are happy with my treatment plan, then we will progress forwards from there.   Your essential oils may be applied as an inhalation (through sniffy tubes, diffuser blends), topical application (roller balls, massage oils, ointments, compresses) and immersion (baths).

I may introduce Heel BioTherapeutic Medicine into your regime, and these are simple to take - usually a few drops in water 1-3 times a day depending on your condition.

Having spent years going around in circles with my health before I started finding solutions, I understand the frustration of a chronic condition, and how long it takes to see results.  The reality is it took a long time to happen, so it will take several months to work your way back to wellness, and for some it could take a couple of years... again, it depends on your condition and how unwell you are... however, I do refer on if you are not starting to see any results with me.
