Beeswax - Refined

Beeswax is a natural substance obtained from the honeycomb of the honeybee.  This wax has been refined to remove the impurities, however the colour has been left in it for the natural look, which is lovely in healing balms as it does also contain some of the healing properties of honey and propolis.

Physically it is a hard wax in the form of a free flowing pellet approx 7mm dia and 20mm long, with a fine-grain matt, non-crystalline fracture, and a warm honey odour.  The colour can very from batch to batch, sometimes being more creamy or beige and others towards a more yellow shade.  If it is important to you that your wax is white, than I recommed you use the Cosmetic Grade.  

Relative density is about 0.96. Practically insoluble in water, completely soluble in volatile and fixed oils. This one has a higher melting point than natural beeswax at approx 61-65°C.

It is used as a thickener, emulsifier or stiffening agent in various cosmetics, without changing the desired finished colour like a yellow wax can tend to do.

This beeswax is an excellent choice as a hardener in lip glosses, lipsticks, eye and lip pencils and mascaras if you want a pure beeswax option.

It is an ideal base for balms, as long as the recipient doesn't have a bee allergy. 

USAGE: Approximately 2-5% of your formulation. Use in the Oil Phase.
